Women’s/Men’s Ministries Meet Tonight

Our Women’s/Men’s Fellowship supper and ministry meetings will be held tonight at 6:00 pm in the fellowship hall. The theme of the meal is fall flavors.

Women’s Bible Study Continues Thursday

Come this Thursday at 7:00 to participate in Mercy Truimphs by Beth Moore on the Book of James. Please see Sarah Fletcher after service if you need a Bible study guide or more information.

Help Needed for the Trail of Treats

The city will sponsor a “Trail of Treats,” Wednesday, October 31, 5:00-8:00 pm. Our church plans to set up a booth on Broadway downtown to give children treats, other freebies, and ministry info. We need both volunteers and candy. Please bring your treats to the church by Sunday, October 28. If you would like to volunteer, please see Marta Phillips.

Quarterly Meeting, October 27, Pittsburg

Representatives from many Free Will Baptist Churches in our area will gather at the Pittsburg Church for the South Central District Quarterly Meeting, October 27, 9:00 am. Phillip Kennedy, the new pastor at Benton First Free Will Baptist Church, will speak during the worship service. Everyone is welcome to attend (you do not have to be a delegate). The host church will serve brunch during the midmorning break.

Help Us Stock the Kitchen

In order to cut the cost for our REACH meal ministry, we’re seeking donations of food and kitchen items. We’ll feature a few items each week in the bulletin. This week, we’re asking for tater tots, corn dogs, and Dawn dishwashing liquid. See the complete list of needed items on the bulletin board.

Church Business Meeting, Oct. 7

Our regularly scheduled church business meeting will be held tonight after ReLauch 3D. We have important business related to our church finances and maintenance on the church bus. If you’re a member of our church, please come.

Women’s Bible Study Still Open to New Participants

It’s not too late to join the women’s Bible study that meets on Thursday nights. The introductory session was just last week. Come this Thursday at 7:00 to participate in Mercy Truimphs, a video-based study on the Book of James by Beth Moore. Halloween Ministry Options

Halloween falls on a Wednesday night this year and it’s just around the corner. Johnston City’s official trick or treat hours will be 5:00-8:00 pm and if you are willing, you can represent our church and share the gospel that evening. Washington Avenue Baptist Church will have a trunk or treat on their parking lot and you are welcome to decorate your car trunk and hand out treats there. Or you can help man a booth or table on Broadway, which will be closed to car traffic downtown for what the city is calling a “Trail of Treats.” We plan to have candy, gospel booklets, and other freebies to hand out there. Obviously, we need volunteers and candy, lots of candy! Please bring your treats to church no later than Sunday, October 28.

REACH Student Ministry

Our Wednesday night student ministry meets again this Wednesday. We serve supper from 6:30-6:55; worship and teaching begin at 7:00. There are groups for all ages so we hope to see you there.

 

 

Announcements for the week of Sept. 30

5th Sunday Night Community Sing

Come join us tonight at the Heritage Fellowship (Church of God of Prophecy) at 12th and Pine for the quarterly Fifth Sunday Night Community Sing at 6:00, Our praise team will be singing and there will be other choirs, special music, and lively congregational singing. Refreshments (finger foods) will be served afterward.

Trunk or Treat

Another community event will happen on Halloween. Several local churches will host Trunk or Treats Wednesday, October 31. We will NOT have one in our parking lot, but will be joining First Christian in the parking lot of the Washington Ave. Baptist Church at 9th and Washington. If you would like to decorate your car or provide candy or other goodies for that evening, please see Pastor Keith. Trick or Treat hours are from 5:00 to 8:00 that evening.

Women’s Bible Study

A women’s Bible study using Beth Moore’s book and video on the Book of James will begin this Thursday evening. Please see Sarah Fletcher after service if you would like more infor­mation (or write a note on a connection card or response form).

Trouble Minds Bible Study

Do you or a loved one suffer from depression, anxiety, bipolar or other mental illness? This Wednesday, October 3, our pastor will begin a Wednesday night Bible study called “Trou­bled Minds.” This study is especially for those who suffer with or live with someone with a mental illness. This hour-long study will begin at 7:30 each Wednesday night.

REACH Student Ministry

Announcements for Week of Sept. 23

Advisory Board To Meet Tuesday Night

The Advisory Board (deacons, trustees, church officers, and program directors) will meet Tuesday night at 7:00. They will be working on a revision of the church budget for the coming year.

See You At the Pole

All middle school and high school students are encouraged to gather around the flag pole at their school this Wednesday morning at 7:00 pm as part of the national movement of student believers called “See You at the Pole.” Adults and younger children are encouraged to meet at the high school for a prayer gathering Tuesday evening at 6:30 to pray for our community, its schools, and our students.
