Camp Meeting, Back to Church Sunday
Good morning, welcome to JCity Church. If you’re one of our guests today, we are so glad you are here. I’m Pastor Keith Fletcher and I pray that you will feel comfortable here at our church today and will come back and be with us again. We work hard to put Christ and Community First here at JCity Church. If you share our love for Christ and this town, we’d love to have you as part of our team.
Speaking of teams, we’d like to thank all those who helped us serve the High School football team and cheerleaders last Thursday night. Everyone seemed to enjoy it and boy could those guys put away the enchiladas & Mexican rice!
Here are a few quick announcements:
I would love for you come with us tonight to meet and hear a preacher who is legend in our denomination. Bobby Jackson was born in a shotgun row house in Wilson, NC, December 14, 1931, grew up the son of a sharecropper, converted in 1949 and entered the ministry of evangelism full time in 1955. He has conducted over 2,000 meetings, preached in over 15,000 services. I was privileged in the late 80s to be the pastor to his in-laws, the Kettemans, up in rural Franklin County. During that time, the legend became a person and we grew to love him.
He’s the evangelist this week at the Camp Meeting at Camp Hope near Ewing. Services start tonight at 6:30 and continue through Wednesday evening. We will dismiss our Sunday night service so that you can go to tonight. If you need a ride, please let me know as soon as possible. We hope to attend tomorrow night and Tuesday as well, plus Brother Bobby will speak at a pastors & church leaders breakfast Tuesday morning at Ina. Let me know if you’d like to go.
The BIG EVENT and I mean REALLY BIG EVENT is BACK TO CHURCH SUNDAY. It’s next Sunday. We’ll have Sunday school as usual but will provide coffee and donuts for our guests who arrive early. Our worship service will start at 10:30 then afterward, we’ll hand out box lunches for everyone in attendance. You and your guests can stay and eat together in our picnic area or you can take the lunch home with you if you’re in a hurry. If weather permits, we’ll have some games and music at the picnic too. We’ll dismiss our evening service next Sunday night as well.
Between now and then, we have some last-minute cleaning and sprucing up to do here in our building. I’ll be here this week and hopefully some of our men will too doing some odd jobs like hanging signs and striping the parking lot. Please come help us get ready for the guests we’re all going to invite this week. Use the flier in the program today or the brochures in the foyer to remind your guests about next Sunday’s events.
Quick reminders: REACH student ministry this Wed at 6:30 (supper) 7:00 (music & teaching). The upcoming 5th Sunday night Sing, September 30, and ReLaunch 3D on Sunday nights. See the program/bulletin for details.
