REACH Restarts Sept. 5

Now that the kids are back in school, we are restarting one of our church’s most exciting programs: REACH Student Discipleship Ministry on Wednesday nights. (REACH is an acronym for Realizing Eternity’s Answers & Christ’s Hope.)

Our first REACH session is Wednesday, September 5. We’ll serve supper 6:30-6:55. At 7:00, everyone will gather in the auditorium for worship and a brief introduction. The students then separate into age-related groups for activities and lessons. We have groups for all ages including adults so bring the whole family.

Lunch Bunch Grand Finale: A Free Drama & Music Mini-Camp

The New Life Drama Company will join us during the last week of Lunch Bunch (July 30-August 3) and will help with our first-ever Drama & Music Mini-Camp. Students in elementary, middle school, and high school may sign up for afternoon sessions with NLDC to prepare for a closing program on Friday evening, 7:00 in the auditorium. Application forms are available at Lunch Bunch or may be completed online here. This program is free to all participants.

If you know students who may be interested in this program, please pass along this information. We also need adult volunteers to help in the afternoons during the mini-camp.

What to Expect at REACH

Our Wednesday night student ministry currently uses a curriculum series called “What We Believe.”

Our typical schedule looks like this. We serve supper at 6:30 and begin activities at 7:00. The first thing on the agenda is age-appropriate worship followed by a “master teacher” who briefly introduces the lesson in a fun way each week. Students then divide into school-grade-based groups. First to exit, Pre-K-Grade 2 (Jefferson School students in JC) follow their teacher Carolyn Taylor to a well-equipped classroom on our lower level. Lincoln School students (grades 3-4) are lead by Marta Phillips to a classroom upstairs in our youth center. Washington Middle School students (grades 5-6) divide up by gender. Girls go with Janice Legendre and boys follow teacher Roger Legendre and his helpers. Teens (7th grade-high school) meet with Pastor Keith and his wife Sarah. Adults gather in the library with teacher Doug Hancock. There’s something for everyone. Come join us Wednesday night.
